Jeremy Ridder Brunelli, CFA

Global Head of Frameworks, UBS Evidence Lab

Jeremy graduated from Baruch College, City University of New York with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2003. He started his career in Finance at Morgan Stanley in various roles in the Fixed Income Department, including Commodities/Natural Gas Trade Support and then on the Fixed Income Management Reporting team as an analyst. Jeremy then worked at Sanford Bernstein for six years in sell-side Research on the #1 II ranked Hardlines Retail team. It was there that he first began dabbling in the alternative data space, including different types of web mining, geospatial analysis, and store manager surveys. Following his time at Bernstein, Jeremy worked at two alternative data start-ups, including Consumer Edge Research as a senior analyst covering Hardlines Retail, and then at Signal Data Corporation as the Global Sector Head and Head of Product. Signal Data was a FinTech start up focused on retail geospatial business intelligence and site selection funded by Bain Capital and Jeff Parker (founder of Thomson’s First Call and CCBN, among other ventures), working with both buy-side investors and retail clients such as Nike, J.Crew, and others.

In 2014, Jeremy became the second hire for UBS Evidence Lab and has since held several product development roles, including Head of Geospatial Analysis, Head of Practice Areas, and now the Head of Evidence Lab Frameworks. Jeremy enjoys woodworking, zymurgy, soccer, and cartography. He is active in his community in many capacities, including the New York State College Conference and as former coach and Board Member/Commissioner of the Eastchester Youth Soccer League. Jeremy has been a CFA Charterholder since August 2005.

Jason DeRise, CFA

Jason DeRise, CFA

Global Head of Solution Specialists, UBS Evidence Lab

Jason was one of UBS Evidence Lab's first members, joining the team from UBS Research in 2015. After serving in multiple roles, he currently leads the efforts of the solution specialists, who work closely with investors and other professional decision-makers to design studies that answer pivotal questions using alternative data. Jason combines his background in fundamental sector analysis with a growing suite of technical tools to turn raw data into insights.

As a sell-side analyst with UBS Research, Jason covered European Beverages as part of a top-ranked team based in London and then US Food & Staple Retailers in New York. He began experimenting with alternative data such as consumer surveys, search analytics and geospatial analysis. In 2014, he co-published the first research report to use UBS Evidence Lab data. Jason has degrees in Finance and Accounting from Syracuse University (2002) and achieved his CFA designation in 2005.

Jason is a self-proclaimed "international man of sport." Outside of the office, he spends his time with his family in a stereotypical American suburban lifestyle, including coaching his older kids' soccer teams and chasing after his one-year-old twins (who are now walking). However, he still finds time to rock out by playing his electric guitars and listening to loud music while driving the family minivan.
